That's right. They came back. Armed with clothes, toys, licorice and clothes -- in this case, a bathrobe -- that could be spit up on.
Boy, was Claire happy.
This time, they had a room in our house, the house was in order and we actually treated them like they were on vacation. Most of the time.
We bought sun hats to cope with the unseasonably sunny April weather.
We read books about farms and listened to Nana and Papa mimic the sounds of barnyard animals.
We watched Claire sit up on her own for the first time.
We hiked Tryon Creek.
And that was just the first half of the visit.

And what a special visit it was! Indeed we were on vacation. Never cooked once. Made me nervous to be served so much wonderfully prepared food in a beautiful home.
And, may I add that the sun hat (and other) shopping and Tryon Creek hike were only the first day. Everyday was filled and became an adventure with beautiful baby Claire.
And about the barnyard sounds: Brent clued us to imitate a horse so that Claire would laugh. He's practiced.
We miss you each one! The blog pictures are marvelous, but Claire flashes a more captivating smile than these photos can reveal. Nana H.
Did any of the clan have a boring time? Not me! Watching Sarah & Brent take care of Claire provided all the interest we needed. Of course, the farmers' market in Portland, the Beach, Tillamook Creamery, & eating out were enjoyable but took second place to Claire. What made the visit great as well was that Brent & Sarah had the days off from work. I hope they can come and visit us soon.
