Mom combed and banded Claire's first set of pigtails recently. They were a hit, at least with the girls. Dad wasn't so sure.

Hardhats back on

This blog began as a way of showing off our home remodel and new child. Now that a second child is on the way, we figured we'd better get back to home improvement, too.

Steve of Fix It Now, Etc. did us a huge favor by installing these new bookshelves in our hallway, something we've wanted for years.

He also installed cupboards in our laundry room. We assembled two of them ahead of time.







All three shelving units are already full.

It's all over but the shouting

(It didn't snow, by the way).


2008 brings a chatterbox of a girl and promises of a little sibling one-third of the way into the year.

Oh boy.

What are we in for? Just last week, I was doing as Sarah instructed, trying to wash playdough out from under Claire's fingernails. Claire kept pulling her hand away and saying, "No, no, no." I'd grab her hand, bring it toward the faucet and she'd slip it out again. This happened several times until, at last, Claire indignantly sat down on the floor beneath the sink, looked me straight in the eye and said: "I mad at you, daddy."
