Bjorn again

You old folks who had us kids don't know what you missed out on. The Baby Bjorn and other variations of the baby sling/pouch are a Godsend. They make childrearing a greater joy.

Not only does the kid love it, dad loves it, which means dad is more engaged in the child rearing. I put Claire in the sling (not pictured) Wednesday morning and walked around the neighborhood with her before going to work. She sat silently, watching everything go by, soaking up the morning scene, emitting her occasional "Hmmm, hmmmmmmmmm" of content. She was so still and so near my chest, I could almost feel her heart beating. It's the closest thing I'll ever come to actually being "with child."

It also provides a hands-free way to shop and do other chores while Claire-sitting. Above, mom and daughter remain Bjorned together following an 1-and-a-half-hour marathon through Winco Foods. This morning, I put Claire in the Bjorn while I made eggs and bacon. She fell asleep facing outward. I ate. She slept. Life was good.
